The robot dinosaur Pleo, designed by one of the Furby creators, can often be seen lately around Tokyo but I have the feeling that it is not selling very well. Do you know if it’s popular in United States / Europe…?

I’ve never seen nor heard of it.
Never heard of it in the US. Although according to their website they were once featured on a gadget segment of a news station in San Jose, whatever that’s worth.
The company which designed it went bankrupt last year or so. I’ve heard that the asian company which produced the Pleo bought the concept and blueprint and is planning to rerelease it.
The Pleo received excellent reviews but hey! It sold for around 300 Euros here in germany which puts it a bit on the expensive side. We bought one for our kids, and we have two of those at our institute at university Duisburg-Essen.
The Pleo does not fare well in Terminator like battles:
I’ll leave the ethics of this to the fans of sci-fi and AI.
It is very new to me.
Thank you for sharing.
I heard about it online but I’ve only seen cheap knock-offs here in the UK.
