Virtual Visit to Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum

Google recently scanned and photographed almost all the Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum in Takarazuka. You can take a look at the scanned high-resolution images, videos and an explanation of the life and artistic evolution of Osamu Tezuka at the Google Cultural Institute. You can also visit the museum virtually like in Google Street View.

It´s always good to remember that all masters started from zero. This is how Tezuka drew as a child:

Mount Tsukuba

Mount Tsukuba, like mount Takao, is an ideal location for a one day trip while staying in Tokyo. Mount Tsukuba is topped by two peaks of similar heights: Nyotai-san 877 m./2,877 ft. and Nantai-san 871 m./2,858 ft. Legend has it that the deities that created Japan remain in mount Tsukuba, the goddess Izanagi is associated to the lower peak Nantai-san while the god Izanami is associated with the higher peak Nyotai-san.

Even if you climb up both peaks the hike is not very long. It is quite enjoyable because along the path there are several rest areas with restaurants and Shintoist shrines.

Osaka Obachan

Last weekend we went to have a picnic in Yoyogi. While we were enjoying our time some really nice and lovely old grandmas approached us. One of them started to flirt with our friend Javi and when she found out that we were from Spain she started to dance flamenco until she tripped over and fell down to the ground. She immediately got back up laughing and kept walking around with her friends.

Our friend Yuko told us that, for the way they were dressing, these grandmas looked like they were part of an Osaka music band called “Osaka Obachan”. As we heard that we quickly googled the group in our smartphones and this is the first thing we found.

It turns out that they are a group of 47 idol grandmas, something similar to an old AKB48. In this video you can see them in action dancing and singing:
