What really strikes me about this film (City Hunter), is how much Jackie knocks himself out for what is essentially a throwaway comic book movie. Even when it was made, we had some pretty crazy bunk movies, yet he just totally throws himself into the fun of the role. And, of course, continues to do unnecessarily crazy stunts (I’m thinking of the flip he does coming out the exploding hallway). Truly a great. I can’t think of many other stars of his caliber that would risk a completely silly role at that point in their career. (Maybe Meryl Streep in Mamma Mia?).
