This is the cheapest drink being sold on a vending machine that I’ve ever seen in Tokyo. On of the drinks in the picture costs only 50 yen! Sometimes, in Japan it is cheaper to buy a drink in a vending machine than in a supermarket, I guess it is because here there are much more vending machines than in other countries.
Strictly talking it is not beer, it is an alcoholic beverage that it looks like black beer but it tastes like chocolate! I’ve never seen it yet, but if I find it somewhere I’ll give it a try. I guess it has to taste really weird! Japanese beverage companies like to invent new drinks continually, almost every week new drinks can be seen in supermarkets and convenience stores.
Matcha is a powdered green tea variety used in the traditional Tea Ceremony. It is also used to flavor sweets, cakes, ice creams etc. It is easy to recognize since its color is the darkest amongst green teas. The first time I drank matcha I didn’t really liked it, but the more I drink it the more I like it.
