Matrix Pachinko

A new pachinko machine based on The Matrix has just been released in Japan. I am not really interested in pachinko machines because they are boring (it’s only about metal balls falling down, sometimes random things happen and if you are lucky you might end up getting some money) but the TV advertisement to promote the new machine is pretty awesome.

Toshiba sends a chair into the stratosphere

To promote its new LCD televisions with LED retroillumination, Toshiba decided to send a chair to the highest altitude possible and record it. The chair was able to reach a 30 km altitude after an hour and half balloon trip until it broke down. The video was recorded using a 1920×1080 Toshiba camera and a 3,000 euro chair was specially designed for the mission by Artem.

The official commercial. Don’t miss the last seconds when the chair breaks down.

More details about the making-of.

Scarlett Johansson in Tokyo

Scarlett Johansson is in Tokyo to attend a series of events to sponsor the Moët champagne brand and to record a TV commercial for them. She is going through similar situations like the main character in Lost in Translation, but dealing with champagne instead of whisky 😉

Scarlet Johansson in Japan
This is one of the billboards of Scarlett Johansson sponsoring Moët that can be seen around Tokyo.

She has been to some events in Roppongi Hills and she is staying at Park Hyatt Hotel (the same as in Lost in Translation) but the security measures are so extreme that it’s impossible to see her. So I leave you with some pictures taken by a journalist in one of the events at Roppongi Hills.
