I found this interesting magazine ad at DC News. It’s one of the first pocket calculators that where sold in Japan. It was made by Sharp and it cost 84,800 yen!, nowadays that would be around 800$
Have you ever used one of these? Why are some functions together in the same buttons?

I wonder what 円84,800 would have been like to the ordinary Japanese during the 1970s?
The yen exchange rate in the arly 1970’s was 360円:$1, so it’s actually more like $235.
